Integrated Data Center and BESS
A dedicated AI training + batch-compute facility leveraging structural energy cost leadership for scalable European AI capacity.
Integrated Data Center and Battery Energy Storage System (400 MWh)
Energy-Optimized Infrastructure
The project leverages Bulgaria’s unique energy market conditions. The 400 MWh BESS is designed to charge during periods of low-cost renewable surplus, a trend consistently confirmed by the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX). With a 120 MW grid connection, the system can charge storage during the lowest-price hours, and the data center consumes primarily from storage to achieve the best blended electricity cost for a 15 MW IT load. This integration lowers operating costs and secures a lasting energy cost advantage, enabling competitive delivery of AI training and batch compute services across the EU.
Investment Highlights:
- Sustained Energy Cost Advantage: Harnesses ultra-low power prices from renewable surplus to achieve long-term cost efficiency over European peers.
- AI Workload Fit: The primary target workloads are AI model training, fine-tuning, rendering, and other latency-insensitive activities. This makes location away from major financial hubs not a disadvantage—while still benefiting from strong backbone connectivity for data movement and customer access.
- Strategic Location: Optimized for power availability, expansion potential, and cost discipline—while serving EU customers that value predictable capacity, EU jurisdiction, and bulk throughput over ultra-low latency.
Key Parameters:
- Storage Capacity: 400 MWh BESS
- Data Center IT Load: 15 MW continuous (24/7)
- Location: Kyustendil, Bulgaria
