Active Projects
ZiRi is developing two high-yield assets designed to generate value from both the digital infrastructure and energy markets.
Asset 1: Integrated Data Center and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Structural Advantage for AI and Enterprise Clients
The 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System is strategically positioned to capitalize on Bulgaria's unique daily power dynamics. Surplus renewable generation and low demand create prolonged periods of ultra-low energy costs, as regularly demonstrated by the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX). Connected to the grid with 120 MW capacity, the system charges during these hours and provides a guaranteed 15 MW base load power to the data center. This integration results in low OPEX, allowing the facility to generate high margins and stable revenue by providing critical compute services and enterprise data storage to the EU market.
Competitive Advantages:
- Energy Cost Leadership: Exploits Bulgaria's ultra-low off-peak power prices to secure a permanent cost advantage over all major European data centers.
- High-Speed Connectivity: Direct access to a resilient EU fiber backbone, ensuring high-speed data transmission to key digital hubs like Munich, Vienna, and Frankfurt.
- Regional Market Access: Proximity to Serbia, North Macedonia, and Greece positions the asset to serve the broader Southeast European markets.
Key Parameters:
- Storage Capacity: 400 MWh BESS.
- Data Center IT Load: 15 MW continuous (24/7).
- Strategic Location: Kyustendil, Bulgaria.
Asset 2: Standalone Battery Energy Storage System
Market Exposure and Grid Stabilization
This project is a high-yield, pure-play energy asset designed to capitalize on the high volatility of the regional energy market. Its core strategic function is energy arbitrage, allowing the system to charge during midday solar surplus hours and inject power during peak high-demand hours. This ensures maximum revenue generation and diversifies ZiRi's energy exposure.
Competitive Advantages:
- Market Arbitrage: Strategically positioned to maximize revenue from significant price differentials by capitalizing on ultra-low off-peak prices.
- Ancillary Grid Services: Ideally located to provide high-value services, such as frequency regulation and balancing, to the national grid operator (ESO).
- Grid Integration: Leverages proximity to established high-voltage power lines for rapid, scalable grid connection and strategic cross-border operational potential.
Key Parameters:
- Storage Capacity: 226 MWh BESS (BESS A).
- Core Function: Energy Arbitrage.
- Strategic Location: Kyustendil, Bulgaria.
